HydraShield is a powerful but safe disinfectant that will keep you and your family safe. HydraShield contains a patented blend of silver and hydrogen peroxide. These work together to destroy nasty bacteria and viruses to keep your family safe and healthy and best of all, there is no nasty taste or smell! HydraShield breaks down into oxygen and water, unlike chlorine which can produce carcinogenic by-products as it breaks down. The silver helps keep the product stable, meaning it can last in your water tank for up to 2 months, protecting it from any new harmful bugs that get in. For extra protection against parasites like Giardia & Cryptosporidium, it is recommended that HydraShield is used with a Big Water Tanks Double Filter Housing, or similar with our 20 micron Pleated Filter and 1 micron polyspun filter.
But that’s not all they do when they sit on your roof! When rain water hits, it washes anything on your roof into your water tank. This includes animal droppings and all the bacteria and nasties that contains pollen, leaves, dirt and dust. Your roof is quite literally open to the world.
These can be sources of bacteria, viruses and parasites which can be dangerous and cause illness. You may have heard of some of them including E. coli, Campylobacter, Salmonella and Norovirus.

Hydrashield can protect your water tank for up to 2 months, however heavy rain will dilute your Hydrashield levels. It is recommended to use test strips regularly, especially after rainfall to ensure water is safe.
