Bianco Pressure Tanks

Model

The Bianco NXT Pressure Tank Range is engineered to extend pump life, prevent rapid pump cycling, and save energy across New Zealand domestic, agricultural, and commercial water systems. Built with cold-rolled carbon steel, a virgin polypropylene liner, a butyl rubber diaphragm, and pre-charged with nitrogen gas to 4 bar, Bianco pressure tanks provide reliable pressurized water storage for every application.

Why Install a Bianco NXT Pressure Tank?

The primary purpose of a pressure tank is to store pressurized water against a nitrogen gas cushion, satisfying small draw-offs (toilet flushes, tap drips, small garden hoses) without forcing your water pump to start every single time.

  • Reduces Pump Starts & Extends Pump Life: Minimizes wear and tear on pump motors, electrical contacts, and mechanical seals caused by constant short-cycling.
  • Saves Energy & Money: Prevents high startup electric current spikes every time a tap is opened briefly, significantly cutting power consumption.
  • Eliminates Small Leak Cycling: Prevents pumps from starting continuously due to minor plumbing drips, toilet valve leaks, or micro-seepage in pipeline networks.
  • Reduces Noise & Water Hammer: Dampens hydraulic pressure spikes and absorbs shockwaves to keep household plumbing quiet.
  • N2 Nitrogen Pre-Charged: Factory pre-charged with nitrogen gas to 4 bar (58 psi) for reduced oxygen corrosion and superior pressure retention over standard atmospheric air.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I adjust the pre-charge pressure for my pump system?

Bianco NXT tanks come factory pre-charged with nitrogen to 4.0 bar (58 psi). For pressure-switch-controlled pumps, the air pre-charge pressure in the tank should be set to 0.2 bar (2–3 psi) below the pump cut-in (start) pressure. Always adjust air pressure when the tank is completely empty of water pressure.

Will a pressure tank work with an electronic pressure controller?

Yes. Many electronic pressure controllers shut off the pump at low flow rather than pressure. Adding a pressure tank absorbs small leaks (like dripping taps or running toilet valves) without triggering the controller to start the pump, saving significant energy over the pump's lifetime.

Why is nitrogen pre-charge better than regular air?

Nitrogen molecules are larger than oxygen molecules, meaning gas leaks through the rubber diaphragm much slower than compressed air. Nitrogen is also dry and non-corrosive, extending diaphragm lifespan and maintaining pre-charge pressure longer.

What size pressure tank do I need for my household?

For standard household supply, a 24L to 60L tank is ideal for general domestic use. Larger dwellings, farm washdowns, or multi-tap irrigation systems benefit from 80L to 450L tanks, which maximize draw-off volumes and reduce pump motor heat from frequent starting.
